Its that time of year again. Time to check your batteries in clocks, smoke detectors and other battery operated devices. But don’t forget about your gas furnaces. Have the heat exchangers tested to make sure that it is not producing any Carbon Monoxide. You can’t smell, see, or taste the dangerous gas but it is very deadly. I recommend to have your furnace checked at least once a year. Children and elderly are most at risk since Co2 is heaver than air. They cannot seem to get the gas out of the lungs. The symtoms are flu like and don’t go away quickly. If you suspect Co2 poisoning in your home get to the hospital immediately. You can also purchase a good Co2 detector and have it installed.
I hope you have a warm winter in your homes.

I will be attending some great training this week on the new bill that is in Congress. The Bill is called “Cash for Caulkers” or otherwise known as the Home Star Bill. This could be very exciting for home owners that are looking into making upgrades to their home, such as new windows or HVAC systems and or other improvements. I will post more information when I get back from the training. Have a Great a Day!

This week is not only going to be hot, it is going to be hot all week. HVAC companies are predicted to be behind from all of the service calls flooding in. If you think there might be a problem with your A/C call in as soon as you can. This will put you on the list. That way you are not waiting when it completely goes out. It could take up to several hours or even couple days for companies to get to your house. Stay Cool!!

Temperatures are coming down a bit for now. Get out and do whatever is needed in the yard or just outside before the temps go back up . Which looks like next week we will be back up in the upper nineties for most of the week. Take these times to play catch up on those things that fall behind when its too hot outside. Remember – Carpe Diem!

It’s gonna be very hot today as well. Please check on family and pets. Close the curtains and try not to cook too much today. Its better to not create or let in any unwanted heat right now. Your A/C is only designed to cool your home approximately 25 degrees less than the ambient temperature. So when we see 102 degrees outside your unit will be doing good to reach 75 in your house. And this all depends on how well your house is insulated. Have a great day and stay in the A/C!

This summer has been one of the hottest we’ve had in quite some time. Here are some helpful tips to keep your A/C in working order during the heat.
1. Check your Filter. This can be one of the most common problems we run into when the busy season is among us.
2. Have the unit checked out by a trained professional. You can prevent lot of unnecessary breakdowns during the heat of the summer.
3. While mowing blow the grass cuttings away from the outdoor unit. This will prevent a dirty coil and high pressures that cause the unit to run more to keep up.
There you have it. Hope these three simple tips will help keep you cool this summer.
